WHAT KIND OF THINGS SHOULD WE PACK FOR CAMP?
Camp is a week of fun so you will want to be fully prepared for the week ahead. As beautiful as the weather can be in Northern BC, it can also be somewhat unpredictable so here are some things we suggest you bring and don't bring to camp.
What to Remember: *most important
Bible (if you own one – otherwise we may be able to provide one), notebook, pens
Water Bottle (labeled)*
Camp-type clothing for a week*. Please do not send new clothing to camp. We play lots of games where campers get dirty. Label all items if possible.
Bag for dirty clothing
Personals: towels, soap, toiletries, comb, flashlight, toothpaste & toothbrush, etc*.
Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Sheet for mattress
Beach Towel and Swim Suit (Modest Attire Only)
Hat/sunscreen
Flashlight
Extra Shoes (Running Shoes)
Jacket/rain coat/hoodie
What to Forget:
Electronics like Video Games & Cell phones
Expensive Jewelry
The whole idea of summer camp is (or ought to be) to escape some of those things and have fun! Upon check in, a phone number will be given in case you need to contact your camper.
***If your child takes medication, send the medicine in its original bottle along with dosage instructions for the nursing staff.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?
We’ll be up and ready for breakfast at 8:30am. The morning will consist of a clean up time and then team games and chapel time. Lunch will be served in the Dining Hall at noon and then in the afternoon there will be games, crafts, activities, canteen and some free time. After dinner there will be a time of activities before chapel. After evening chapel there will be games and a snack before heading to bed for a good rest.
WHAT ABOUT MEDICATIONS AND MEDICAL CONCERNS?
Please provide as much detail as possible in the registration form regarding anything medical or physical we should know to keep your child safe and provide a great experience. This includes allergies (history, symptoms, procedure), medication taken and instructions, and your everyday strategies. Pack any medications your child needs in their original bottles.
CAN MY CHILD BE IN THE SAME GROUP WITH THEIR FRIEND(S)?
Yes, we do our very best to accommodate requests, as we recognize this is important to many children’s camp experience. We will be dividing into teams for the week, so on the registration form, please provide us with the name of the other camper your child would like to be placed with.
WHAT SORTS OF ACTIVITIES WILL MY CHILD BE PARTAKING IN?
Some of the camp activities may include team relay games, archery, crafts, and sports.
IS THERE SWIMMING?
We will not be going to the lake or local swimming pool. However, if it is hot outside, we may be playing water games! On hot days, consider packing a small towel along with the change of clothes.
CAN MY CHILD BRING THEIR IPOD, CELLPHONE OR OTHER ELECTRONICS?
Please! No electronic devices or external distractions such as iPods, portable games, trading cards, toys etc. We are encouraging technology free and commercial free nature immersion. To get the best camp experience possible, all electronic devices are to be left at home.
WHEN ARE THE DROP OFF/PICK UP TIMES?
Drop off and registration will begin at 9:30am Monday July 14th. Children can be picked up at 3:30pm on Friday July 18th.
CAN WE PICK UP EARLY FROM CAMP OR DROP OFF LATE?
Pick up's and drop off's can become quite challenging and impactful. A lot of effort has been put in to plan all activities, so we ask that you adhere to the times listed.
CAN I VISIT MY CHILD AT CAMP?
In order to maintain our schedule and create a culture of independence, we do not allow visits during the week. Please contact the director if you have any questions or concerns.
ARE THERE VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES?
There are different positions available at camp. If you are interested in serving as staff, contact us to obtain more details.
